full-upgrade tries to purge half of the system half of the time because
of not-yet-fulfilled dependencies (a good example is libgcj-bc atm).
And the other half of the time it fails to find a valid solution to
fulfill dependencies :)
Never anything else than safe-upgrade, especially not on sid. I even try
to avoid full-upgrade as long as possible when upgrading stable systems
to keep its influence as small as possible.

safe-upgrade did never harm any upgrade in any way on any of my systems.
