Tried to build your package and it fails to build with GNU binutils-gold. The important difference is that --no-add-needed is the default behavior of of GNU binutils-gold. Please provide all needed libraries to the linker when building your executables.
Doko upgraded this bug to serious without posting any explantation either to the bug report or in the control message. From memory (I don't rememeber where) I belive he did so based on the assumption that packages that previously failed with binutils-gold would now fail with regular binutils.
While preparing bug 651763 and it's included patch I discovered this was not the case. After fixing that bug the package builds fine with normal binutils but still fails with binutils-gold.
