Hi Martin, I've uploaded v4l-utils 0.8.5-2. From the README.Debian file:
Since v0.8.4 libv4l decodes JPEG and MJPEG picture formats via libjpeg instead of using the its own tinyjpeg decoder. For cameras delivering a non-standars stream this leads to non working or flickering video. An indication might be the following output on stderr: "libv4l2: error converting / decoding frame data" libv4l already takes care of some broken cameras by falling back to the tinyjpeg decoder. To test if this might help with your camera, please set the following environment variable before starting the webcam application: export LIBV4LCONTROL_FLAGS=32 Could you please install it and check if this environment variable helps to get video in Skype, again? There are at least two other cameras with the same chipset as yours that were brought back to life. Once you verified that it works I'll add your camera id to the internal library table so that the compatible decoder is selected automatically. I could have added it with this upload too, but in your bug report you stated that the error vanishes if you install 0.8.4. All cams I tested were broken by this version, too. v0.8.3 was the last compatible version. You can pick the binaries from http://incoming.debian.org/ or http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/v/v4l-utils/ The packges.debian.org is often one day behind. I appreciate your help!
