This is nice and reproducible now. Thanks to both of you for the quick and helpful answers. To be clear, I won't be pursuing a fix in the near future, since I don't use gecko-mediaplayer myself. Because gecko-mediaplayer does not seem to be very actively maintained in Debian, there might be a lull coming.
