Apt-get complains upon downloading and attempting to install udev 0.068-2: (Reading database ... 163044 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace udev 0.056-3 (using .../archives/udev_0.068-2_i386.d= eb) ... udev requires a kernel >=3D 2.6.12, upgrade aborted. dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_0.068-2_i386.deb (--u= npack): subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_0.068-2_i386.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) This halts my upgrade and leaves packages in an unconfigured state. After "apt-get upgrade" fails, I have to follow this up with "apt-get install" to install and configure other packages downloaded at the same time as udev. Kernels 2.6.12 and newer are not yet available in testing or unstable. Please revert to version 0.056-3 which is apparently the newest version that works with kernels currently available from Debian repositories. Otherwise, find a way to make the package compatible with older kernels. --=20 Mike Hicks <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --=-MSURmZOsjsiee6YO3xLP Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBDLHm005OjzVUnj0URAiIKAKDkfFlDCh4Fv9nBAM+jF6HvVuWAgwCgsyaw BovPL1PCQdWZ4f7T4tsCpLo= =XzLK -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-MSURmZOsjsiee6YO3xLP-- --------------------------------------- Received: (at 328875-done) by bugs.debian.org; 17 Sep 2005 20:37:09 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Sep 17 13:37:09 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from attila.bofh.it [213.92.8.2] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.36 1 (Debian)) id 1EGjQr-0007LK-00; Sat, 17 Sep 2005 13:37:09 -0700 Received: by attila.bofh.it (Postfix, from userid 10) id 1AF6A5F772; Sat, 17 Sep 2005 22:37:07 +0200 (CEST) Received: by wonderland.linux.it (Postfix, from userid 1001) id 056051C29C; Sat, 17 Sep 2005 22:37:00 +0200 (CEST) Date: Sat, 17 Sep 2005 22:37:00 +0200 To: Mike Hicks <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: Bug#328875: apt-get downloads udev and attempts to install while kernel is not >= 2.6.12 Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="T4sUOijqQbZv57TR" Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.10i From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Marco d'Itri) Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Level: X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 --T4sUOijqQbZv57TR Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable On Sep 17, Mike Hicks <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Kernels 2.6.12 and newer are not yet available in testing or unstable.
