Hi Dominique, I'm not actually the maintainer of this package (and hence didn't receive your message by mail initially; I just happened to spot it as I went through my list of perl 5.12 transition-affecting bugs). So although I have no objection to you fixing this with an NMU, and would love to see this bug fixed, I can't speak for the maintainer (Colin).
