In [0] Erich Schubert submitted a patch to address the specific problem of the server list getting truncated which has since been dropped from the packaging without mention.
A patch[3] was added for [1] which seems to be more robust, but is addressing saving of a different config file. If someone has the time, it'd probably be useful to see about using the added xchat_rename_file function in the other relevant *_save functions so ignore.conf isn't the only file that doesn't get truncated.
