Package: update-notifier
Version: 0.99.3debian6
Justification: renders package unusable
Severity: grave

I installed Debian squeeze: base system only.
Then I installed some packages:
sudo
pmount
gcc
xserver-xorg
gnome-terminal
metacity
gdm3
gnome-session-common
gnome-control-center
gnome-themes
vim
epiphany
evince
yelp

and update-notifier

Any notifications do not appear ever.
I tried:
$ ps -e | grep "update"
 2050 ?        00:00:00 update-notifier

$ sudo /usr/share/update-notifier/notify-reboot-required
$ sudo touch /var/lib/update-notifier/dpkg-run-stamp
Nothing happens and terminal is clean.

$ /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt-check -p
libwebkit-1.0-2
libwebkit-1.0-common

$ /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt-check
2;0

Notification doesn't appear after apt-get update.

CDROM detection doesn't give anything.

$ sudo killall update-notifier; update-notifier &
[1] 3168

My options for update-notifications:
auto_launch false
..interval 0

I have never seen any notification instaed og Preview in
notiifcation-properties.

Probably this package must require something more for declared work. Hope we
will find out it.
