I think that's open for debate.  Plus, unless you upload directly to
testing you're going to get a few unrelated changes anyhow.

I held back changes I felt were more likely to introduce regressions for
uploads to experimental, but nobody ever bothered sponsoring them.  I do
differentiate between changes I eventually would want to see in testing
and those I feel are yet a bit too early or potentially disruptive.

As the maintainer I definitely do not want to support all the old quirky
stuff when I can have a proper fix.  Removing the calls to MAKEDEV is
IMHO and current understanding the proper fix.  I absolutely do *not*
want to have to support calls to MAKEDEV in squeeze when it's really not
isdnutils' business.

As such, my position remains for the moment unchanged.
