Package: moreutils Version: 0.40 Severity: grave File: /usr/bin/sponge Strangely, this only happens on squeeze systems, not on sid, although sponge is the same version on both. Hence, it's quite likely a dependency problem, probably libc6. Or the kernel (2.6.32 vs. 2.6.35):
sponge seems to lose data, without a warning or an exit code
telling me about it. It should.

I am marking this grave because I just had to restore all my IRC
logs from the past decade and stitch them back together. Fortunately
I had a backup. This might not always be the case.
strace attached, if it helps.
