It looked like the last thing it was trying to do in the strace was related to session management, so please could you try rebuilding it without session manager support. Enter the debtmp/roxterm-1.18.4+svn* directory, add "--without-sm" to the end of the line starting with dh_auto_configure and rebuild it by running "debuild -uc -us -i -I".
