Technically, the bug was not "fixed". I just rearranged some **seemingly unrelated** hardware and the bug disappeared. Overall, I don't think I can answer your question. You must understand, I am "just" a user of the software... not a developer. ;-) The expert developers of grub will have to decide whether to close the bug. Thanks for your work, C.
