Package: libc6
Version: 2.3.5-5
Severity: normal

on line 100, it errors out if /bin/sh isn't bash. changing hash bang to
'#!/bin/bash -e' "fixes" it.

/etc/init.d/glibc.sh start
/etc/init.d/glibc.sh: 100: Syntax error: Bad substitution

100: if [ $kernel_ver = ${kernel_ver/pa/} ]

i suspect something like

  if [ $kernel_ver = "${kernel_ver}/pa/" ]

is expected....

seems to work ok, with the hash bang set back to what it was ('/bin/sh -e').
