Hello Nico,

First of all, let me add a disclaimer: I am *not* the maintainer of
libnss-ldap nor do I have much clue about LDAP auth and even that
package.

I am indeed working on it as part as a genral action wrt rotting bugs
reports related to localization.

Still, I went on your bug report and noticed that it was never
followed up even though it has a release critical severity.

Are you still experiencing that bug? From your description, this is a
very handicapping bug and you might either have found a
workaround...or something else fixed the problem....or maybe you are
still experiencing it and are mumbling about the lack of
responsiveness you got from the Debian project on this issue....

I can't really investigate the problem much more, from the elements
you gave in the bug report but let's at first check if the bug is
still here. If it isn't and as the version of libnss-ldap didn't
change since you reported the bug (indeed, nearly nothing happened on
that package since over one year, unfortunately)....it would be a
proof that the bug was not in libnss-ldap.

Apart from all this, I'm not entirely convinced that the bug deserves
to be "severity: critical". At the minimum, it should be "serious" as
it doesn't "break other software or introduces a security hole". And
even "serious" might be a little bit too strong as the software is
working as expected for the vast majority of users, apparently. Still,
I understand this is critical *for you* of course....and I would beg
you to accept apologies in the name of the Debian project for the lack
of answers and followups you got.
