Not sure what I can say other than I'm using 0.8.1+svn443-1 client with a host of the same version. When I start apt-dater, is shown as "unknown". Then I choose "update", the host moves to "updating", and then back to "unknown". SSH connections via the "c" command work fine. Andreas
