The fix should be pretty easy, indeed. However, gct is not maintained
upstream (deprecated in favor of qct or other similar programs). As you
reported, you see that the build system is not really in a good shape.
So, unless someone want to take ownership of upstream development/fix,
I plan to remove this package from Debian. I was letting in in the archive
while it was still working. As it is not the case anymore, I will remove
it (probably in a few weeks so that someone can fix it if he is really
interested in this software).
