Yes, I can, because packages linked to libasprintf depend (via the dpkg-shlibdeps mechanism) on the library provided by gettext-base, *not* on gettext-base itself, and I have renamed the library provided by gettext-base and modified accordingly the shlibs file. I fully agree that it would be a serious bug if packages linked to libasprintf just had a Depends: gettext-base, but that's not the case.
