Package: praat Version: 5.0.29-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
Praat is a software for analysing speech signals. Having the capability of hearing the sounds been analysed is an essential feature of this package. The current version of praat in Debian is unable to output sound in a fresh intallation of the distribution, because it depends on the OSS compatibility layer of ALSA, which is not installed by default. The simple fix for this problem is to make praat depend on oss-compat. I am the maintainer of praat and I am going to upload a fixed package right away. I hope the fixed package will make its way into lenny. -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0 APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages praat depends on: ii lesstif2 1:0.95.0-2.1 OSF/Motif 2.1 implementation relea ii libasound2 1.0.16-2 ALSA library ii libc6 2.7-18 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libice6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libsm6 2:1.0.3-2 X11 Session Management library ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxp6 1:1.0.0.xsf1-2 X Printing Extension (Xprint) clie ii libxt6 1:1.0.5-3 X11 toolkit intrinsics library Versions of packages praat recommends: ii xfonts-100dpi 1:1.0.0-4 100 dpi fonts for X ii xfonts-75dpi 1:1.0.0-4 75 dpi fonts for X praat suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
