Package: grub-pc Version: 1.96+20080724-14 Followup-For: Bug #512787 Perhaps I can help, as I have the same problem and I have not yet run grub-install. What I have detected is that I have to delete the search line *before* it is run. If I let the system to try to run once, and then I edit boot menu, I get still the 'initrd command not found' error. I have to reboot the system.
But once I have booted, running search command in grub-emu, I get (hd0,1) as response, which I gess is the right info. Please, tell me if I can help in any way.
