Hmmm...

I did a fresh install (standard system) then added a pile of packages,
including gkrellmd. When I tried to start gkrellmd it had the problems
described (actually it might be the other bug that was the problem;
that is failing to start when already started, but when I did ps
aux|grep gkrellmd nothing came up except the grep). In order to fix it I
tried to find what was wrong by running gkrellmd manually
(i.e. /usr/bin/gkrellmd instead of /etc/init.d/gkrellmd start) after
which /etc/init.d/gkrellmd started.

I don't know what else to tell you as I can't reinstall on that system
because it is in use.

And that's my crabbing done for the day. Got it out of the way early,
now I have the rest of the afternoon to sniff fragrant tea-roses or
strangle cute bunnies or something. -- Michael Devore
