Well, the point is that there is not other replacement for this package. It exists a new upstream with a better, modularized, etc..., library by the same author, but it's not in Debian yet.

I'm not using it anymore and I'm not considering to package the new one.

What it is better? Leave a dead package in the pool waiting for a the new package or removing avoiding any problem with possible security issues or similar leaving Debian without it?

It can be removed, in my opinion.
