I could reproduce with galeon, though it doesn't happen as reliably as with epiphany. Even stranger, if you run galeon with a new user (no $HOME/.* directories around), then it *doesn't* crash. Then you restart galeon (so, after some $HOME/.* directories were created), then it *does* crash. Epiphany, OTOH, crashes even when $HOME is empty.
