Where do you see it being linked statically?

% ldd /usr/lib/xscreensaver/skyrocket
        libalut.so.0 => /usr/lib/libalut.so.0 (0x00002ab504196000)
        libopenal.so.0 => /usr/lib/libopenal.so.0 (0x00002ab504377000)
