Aha, which is why I totally misunderstood the bug. Also what was missing was
the really informative parts of the error message that were snipped from the
original bug report (the part where qmake-qt3 was used to generate the
Makefile).

Yes, we must hardcode the path to the version of qmake required, which
is currently /usr/bin/qmake-qt4.
