FWIW, I can get the binary in the i386 .deb to segfault reliably, but the amd64 binary is fine (that got autobuilt) and all local builds, i386 or amd64, are also fine. It's looking suspiciously like b0rkage in the uploaded i386 .deb and, therefore, in the build environment used to create it.
