Err, I've never heared that partial upgrades were supported. AFAIK, if you decide to stay on etch and want to upgrade libxine1 only, the procedure is called a 'backport'. For backports, this indeed shouldn't be done. Instead, I'd suggest that the backporter would either stay with the package layout from etch or alternatively add a Depends on libxine1-x in the libxine1 package. > Yes.
