I dispute your claim, since I'm running a 2.6.22 based kernel with madwifi install via debian package 0.9.3-2 ii madwifi-modules-2.6.22.1-kel-smp-1 1:0.9.3-3+1 There I believe that the package does work, it not severity "grave" and ask for you to dig around and give some more information.
