Yes, for sure.  The trouble is: I don't know how to disable text or
otherwise communicate to the user that text won't work.  As it stands
now, if you install texlive 2007 and ipe *some* text will work and
some won't.  There is no good error message, just odd behaviour.  See

Maybe I could write an ipe wrapper script that checks for texlive <= 2007
and gives a warning.
