No luck. I know that firmware loading is done through hotplug, so I also went several versions back on that to no avail. Googling the problem, I saw someone mentioning that udev could be a potential cause. Sure enough, rolling back to 0.053-1 solves the problem entirely. I've tried both 0.054-1 and 0.054-2, and both result in the same problem. -- Package-specific info: -- /etc/udev/rules.d/: /etc/udev/rules.d/: total 0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 2004-12-05 14:19 cd-aliases.rules -> ../cd-aliases.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 2004-11-18 20:49 compat-full.rules -> ../compat-full.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 2004-11-18 20:49 devfs.rules -> ../devfs.rules lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 12 2005-02-18 18:29 z_hal-plugdev.rules -> ../hal.rules -- /sys/: /sys/block/hda/dev /sys/block/hda/hda1/dev /sys/block/hda/hda2/dev /sys/block/hda/hda5/dev /sys/block/hda/hda6/dev /sys/block/hdc/dev /sys/block/ram0/dev /sys/block/ram10/dev /sys/block/ram11/dev /sys/block/ram12/dev /sys/block/ram13/dev /sys/block/ram14/dev /sys/block/ram15/dev /sys/block/ram1/dev /sys/block/ram2/dev /sys/block/ram3/dev /sys/block/ram4/dev /sys/block/ram5/dev /sys/block/ram6/dev /sys/block/ram7/dev /sys/block/ram8/dev /sys/block/ram9/dev /sys/class/graphics/fb0/dev /sys/class/input/event0/dev /sys/class/input/event1/dev /sys/class/input/event2/dev /sys/class/input/mice/dev /sys/class/input/mouse0/dev /sys/class/input/mouse1/dev /sys/class/input/ts0/dev /sys/class/input/ts1/dev /sys/class/misc/agpgart/dev /sys/class/misc/psaux/dev /sys/class/misc/rtc/dev /sys/class/printer/lp0/dev /sys/class/sound/adsp/dev /sys/class/sound/audio/dev /sys/class/sound/controlC0/dev /sys/class/sound/dsp/dev /sys/class/sound/mixer/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D0c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D0p/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D1c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D2c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D3c/dev /sys/class/sound/pcmC0D4p/dev /sys/class/sound/timer/dev -- Kernel configuration: -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.8-2-686 Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages udev depends on: ii hotplug 0.0.20040329-17 Linux Hotplug Scripts ii initscripts 2.86.ds1-1 Standard scripts needed for bootin ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-20 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii makedev 2.3.1-76 creates device files in /dev ii sed 4.1.4-2 The GNU sed stream editor -- debconf information: * udev/devfs-warning: * udev/reboot-warning: --------------------------------------- Received: (at 297481-close) by bugs.debian.org; 14 Mar 2005 15:08:07 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Mar 14 07:08:06 2005 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from newraff.debian.org [208.185.25.31] (mail) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1DArAs-0000nn-00; Mon, 14 Mar 2005 07:08:06 -0800 Received: from katie by newraff.debian.org with local (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1DAr52-000562-00; Mon, 14 Mar 2005 10:02:04 -0500 From: Fumitoshi UKAI <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Katie: $Revision: 1.55 $ Subject: Bug#297481: fixed in hotplug 0.0.20040329-18 Message-Id: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sender: Archive Administrator <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Mon, 14 Mar 2005 10:02:04 -0500 Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-6.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00,HAS_BUG_NUMBER autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2005_01_02 X-Spam-Level: Source: hotplug Source-Version: 0.0.20040329-18 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of hotplug, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive: hotplug_0.0.20040329-18.diff.gz to pool/main/h/hotplug/hotplug_0.0.20040329-18.diff.gz hotplug_0.0.20040329-18.dsc to pool/main/h/hotplug/hotplug_0.0.20040329-18.dsc hotplug_0.0.20040329-18_all.deb to pool/main/h/hotplug/hotplug_0.0.20040329-18_all.deb A summary of the changes between this version and the previous one is attached.
