To reproduce:
- new workbook
- enter a,b,c,d,e (or anything else) in A1:A5
- enter 1,3,4 (or any integeres in 1..5) in B1:B5
- enter =index($A$1:$A$5,$B1) in C1
- copy the formula to C1:C5
This works. Now let's try to use an array formula. Copy the same
formula as an array formula to D1:D5. As expected, this indexes always
the first element ("a" in my example). But it should be possible to
circumvent this behaviour by giving a name to $A$1:$A$5 and using it in
the array formula.
However, if you try it, nothing changes. As far as I know, this is a bug.
