Hi,
well, the user interface is debconf, so if it is not doing the
right thing for you, please feel free to bug the interface authors
for not doing whatever you feel the interface should be doing.
We have standardized on debconf as an interface, and I am not
going to hack around debconf in various and sundry packages just
cause the uniform user interface does not meet some peoples
aesthetics.
BTW, a good programmer also understands "abstraction" and
"modularization" and "separation of UI from underlying code" (aka MVC
design pattern).
