Package: xdg-utils Version: 1.1.0~rc1+git20111210-5 Severity: wishlist Somehow, my PDF viewer preferences were messed up. Not a big deal. I'll just override it with xdg-mime... But I gave it an absolute path to the desktop file. That didn't work, and strace showed it trying to open /usr/share//applications/(absolute path I provided). The existing double- slash is sloppy, but taking an absolute path and treating it as relative is a bad idea.
If upstream doesn't want absolute paths, they should error out rather than accepting them and causing confusion. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash xdg-utils depends on no packages.
