Exactly thats why I build it myself. I wanted to understand why it did
not work, but since X is rather complex, I could not get the
underlying cause, especially since dh_strip worked when called
manually after the build.

Thanks. Unfortunately I will be hit more often by this, as my build
partition is my (only) xfs partition. At least I know that now.
