One of the significant events in our history is sarge's release cycle, and one part of that was aj's resignation as RM in August 2004. This was announced by Steve Langasek in http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2004/08/msg00001.html I think this should show in the timeline. aj was replaced by Steve and Colin Watson.
