Actually this turns out to be simple. As found out be Craig Small[1],
libtool does a string compare rather than path compare. Therefor one
needs to amend my patch with:
- ./configure $(CROSS) --prefix=/usr --datadir=\$${prefix}/share
--mandir=\$${prefix}/share/man --enable-fsect-man5 CFLAGS="$(CFLAGS)"
--libdir=/\$${prefix}/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)
+ ./configure $(CROSS) --prefix=/usr --datadir=\$${prefix}/share
--mandir=\$${prefix}/share/man --enable-fsect-man5 CFLAGS="$(CFLAGS)"
--libdir=\$${prefix}/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)
After this change file came rpath clean out from pbuilder.
