I tried adding a large number of IPv6 addresses to lo (using something like "ip -6 address add $prefix::$host/64 dev lo" in a loop). A subsequent "ip -6 address show lo" shows me all addresses that I added.
This works correctly with both the current version (20111117-1) and 20080725-2 which I pulled from snapshots.d.o.. The kernel version on my workstation is 3.1.0-1-amd64.
