Hi,

In /etc/default/sshguard there is the following line:
>
> ARGS="-a 4 -p 420 -s 1200"
>
> -a 4
> seems too low for me, as that means that when trying to login with ssh
> with an unknown user to the sshguarded host, You will be blocked at the
> first failed login. Seems to be a little bit harsh to me.

> The sshguard default value for -a is 40, that means you get blocked only

> are sshguard defaults, too.

Thanks to report it.

This bug was fixed in sshguard 1.5-4 in unstable:
http://bugs.debian.org/638225

However I am a bit busy but I will work on squeeze-backport the next weeks.

Kind regards,
