I am positive to include the patch to allow the machine to stay up at
least one hour after boot, but am more reluctant to add the gridengine
patch.  I suspect if I do, I will get a stream of patches to add support
for other background running processes someone want to keep running.

I would rather have a plugin interface where those with special needs
can put something in a .d directory and use this to decide if it is safe
to turn off the computer or not.  Then you and others with similar needs
can put whatever special rule you want in the .d directory and be happy.

Would be great if you could prepare and test such patch.
