The first apt-get command worked as expected, but the second produced
the following (some system-specific things elided):

Attempting to configure the pending packages leads to the same error
as before in pd-pdp:

dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of pd-pdp:
 pd-pdp depends on puredata; however:
  Package puredata is not installed.

 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

So I'm truly stumped.  If you can't reproduce this, I'm not sure what
else could be going on -- but I'll try to make do. Thanks for your
