I am running squeeze with some pkg from testing and unstable.

I could not reproduce this with 0.6.4-1 with preferences(5) exactly as
you provided or with the correction noted above -- selecting to
install packages from unstable, e.g. `fonts-stix' or `beets', works
ok at this end.

Does this problem still occur for you, can anyone else reproduce it,
or could it be closed?

Note that I can not find any specific mention of this bug in the
commits or changelog (stealth fix perhaps?).
