I've started to work on Moodle 2 packaging some time ago. There is *a lot* to be done there, so any help would be appreciated - please contact me if you would like to help. As for the version, 2.2 will be released soon. Either 2.2 or 2.3 needs to go into sid, to provide continues security fixes.
