Package: nmh Version: 1.3-1 Severity: wishlist Hi Nick,
With the removal of both metamail and mime-codecs from Debian, I understand that there are certain gaps in nmh's default mime handling now in Ubuntu. Dan Zuras (Cc:ed) tracked down a possible solution to this problem he was having on Ubuntu. Do you think this is something that could be included by default in the nmh package? > To: Dan Zuras Ubuntu <[email protected]> > From: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Trying to understand nmh/mime/metamail... > Date: Tue, 25 Oct 2011 22:18:09 +0200 > > well, with metamail gone, you have to tell nmh yourself what to use to > open stuff that has been sent via MIME. just put it into ~/.mh_profile or > systemwide into /etc/nmh/mhn.defaults (at least in Debian) > > here are the relevant parts of my mh_profile: > > mhshow-suffix-text/plain: .txt > mhshow-suffix-text/html: .html > mhshow-suffix-application/msword: .doc > mhshow-suffix-application/pdf: .pdf > mhshow-suffix-application/PostScript: .ps > mhshow-suffix-application/pgp-signature: .asc > mhshow-suffix-image/jpeg: .jpg > mhshow-suffix-audio/mp3: .mp3 > mhshow-charset-utf8: %s > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-1: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-1 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-2: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-2 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-3: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-3 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-4: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-4 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-5: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-5 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-6: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-6 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-7: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-7 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-8: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-8 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-9: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-9 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-10: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-10 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-11: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-11 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-12: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-12 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-13: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-13 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-14: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-14 | less > mhshow-charset-iso-8859-15: %s | iconv -f iso-8859-15 | less > mhshow-show-audio/mp3: %p/usr/bin/mplayer -vo null '%F' > mhshow-show-text/html: %p/usr/bin/w3m -dump -T text/html '%F' | less > mhshow-show-image: %p/usr/bin/feh '%F' > mhshow-show-application/msword: %p/usr/bin/catdoc '%F' | less > mhshow-show-application/PostScript: %p/usr/bin/gv '%F' > mhshow-show-application/pdf: %p/usr/bin/gv '%F' > mhshow-show-application/pgp-signature: %p/bin/cat '%F' > mhshow-show-application/pgp-encrypted: %p/bin/cat '%F' > mhshow-show-application/octet-stream: %p/bin/cat '%F' > mhstore-store-application/PostScript: %m%P.ps > mhstore-store-application/pdf: %m%P.pdf > mhstore-store-application/msword: %m%P.doc > mhstore-store-text: %m%P.txt > mhstore-store-image/jpeg: %m%P.jpg > mhstore-store-audio/mp3: %m%P.mp3 > mhstore-store-application/octet-stream: %m%P.data > > > that's all i need for most of the stuff i get. just replace the > applications with whatever you are using. seems tedious work but you > just need to do it once, right?
