Make sure you don't have any stray sendmail processes from before the
upgrade - I've infrequently seen a sendmail process not properly stop
That would explain your error message
To make delivery work I had to change permissions
for /var/spool/mqueue from drwxr-s--- to drwxrwsrwx
Thanks to kuttler of [EMAIL PROTECTED] for validating his
local queue permissions on a working sarge sendmail. He said
it's a local admin tweak as well, it didn't work out of the box.
nope, the permissions were correct - something else, like an old
daemon process is at fault:
This is what I have on all the sendmail boxen here, at work, and home:
$ ls -ld /var/spool/mqueue
drwxr-s--- 10 smmta smmsp 4096 Aug 30 2004 /var/spool/mqueue

<Knghtbrd> wichert - just wait, after seeing the NERF gatling guns, ICBMs
are not far off (just pump the damned thing for an hour or two
is all...)
