Package: i8kutils Version: 1.25 Architecture: i386 Distribution: stable testing
i8kutils does not work when added to the network install version of stable or testing (or unstable?), because those kernels do not include the expected i8k.o module. i8kutils documentation says that the i8k.o kernel module should be found in linux kernel 2.4.14 or later. It is NOT found in the package: kernel-image-2.4-386, which is the default kernel for the network install. I observe that it is found in packages kernel-image-2.4-686 kernel-image-2.6-686 Proposed solution: Add a dependency for these kernels, or compile in with the 386 version.
