Please confirm (maybe one more time) if the thunderbird password
dialog (don't talk about some other dialog) has not the same
behaviour. Enigmail maintainer cited the code that shows that it
uses the thunderbird standard service to do it ... so now it all looks
like a thunderbird bug.
