Package: apticron
Version: 1.1.51
Severity: normal

Hi,

Recently /etc/cron.d/apticron was changed to execute apticron hourly.
This cause several problems. One is that it will run 'apticron' even if
the computer/laptop is on battery. Cron/anacron doesn't do that.

Another problem is receiving messages like this:

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily
unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another
process using it?
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11: Resource temporarily
unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another
process using it?

I'm using 'unattended-upgrades' and it might happen that apticron is
executed after it (as configured in cron.d file at a fixed minute every
day).

I recommend to move back to the old one per day config. I have configured
all my systems to run weekly (file from cron.daily removed), but this is
another matter.

Thanks
