unfortunately, the result is the same, although I'm not getting messages
to ~/.xsession-errors but to the command line from where I started
rhythmbox: with each file it indexes, I get this (hundreds...)

(rhythmbox:9730): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_bin_remove_func: assertion
`GST_ELEMENT_PARENT (element) == (GstObject *) bin' failed

these lines still occur, dottet in between:

(rhythmbox:9730): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: gvalue.c:89: cannot
initialize GValue with type `gchararray', the value has already been
initialized as `gchararray'

on exitus, it says:

libnautilus-burn memory allocation failed

and on startup, it complained:

** (rhythmbox:9730): CRITICAL **: couldn't connect to session bus:
Unable to determine the address of the message bus

(rhythmbox:9730): Rhythmbox-CRITICAL **: acquired DBus service but
couldn't activate!

I upgraded with "sudo apt-get install -t experimental rhythmbox" and apt
also pulled in libtotem-plparser0 (this is the first time I'm running
something from experimental... is this all I need to do?). Result stayed
the same over two runs.
