YafaRay Project (former yafray, now dead) consists of two parts:
+ Core software, doing the heavy-duty work (ITP #638653);
+ Exporter software, that creates a interface between the modeler
(in this case, Blender) and the raytracing engine.
I've already worked a lot on the first one and going to look for a
sponsor (I'm still a sponsored maintainer). Its packaging is ready, even
if the software is not considered stable yet by upstream authors.
Now I'm working on the exporter and it's easy, since it consists in few
python files to be copied as addons for Blender.
