Package: aptitude Version: 0.6.3-4 Severity: normal If I enter at the command line
aptitude versions gnome-control-center the output is p 1:2.30.1-3 testing, unstable 990 p 1:3.0.2-1 experimental 100 But given my /etc/apt/preferences which is Package: empathy* fglrx* *glx* gir1* gnome* gstreamer0.10* gvfs* python-gmenu libclutter* libgdu-gtk0 libgl* nautilus* network-manager* telepathy* Pin: release a=experimental Pin-Priority: 992 Package: empathy* fglrx* *glx* gir1* gnome* gstreamer0.10* gvfs* python-gmenu libclutter* libgdu-gtk0 libgl* nautilus* network-manager* telepathy* Pin: release a=unstable Pin-Priority: 991 Package: * Pin: release a=testing Pin-Priority: 990 Package: * Pin: release a=unstable Pin-Priority: 500 Package: * Pin: release a=experimental Pin-Priority: 100 (if you suspect that I wanted to try the gnome shell, you're right!), I would expect the experimental priority to be 992. In fact, if I do install the package with the command aptitude install gnome-control-center the experimental version is installed, which I actually appreciate. So I think that the output of the versions option is broken and misleading. -- Package-specific info: aptitude 0.6.3 compiled at Apr 2 2011 21:33:01 Compiler: g++ 4.5.2 Compiled against: apt version 4.10.1 NCurses version 5.8 libsigc++ version: 2.2.4.2 Ept support enabled.
