This means simply dropping the *.desktop files from the packages which
in the current case(s) sounds as a simple and reasonable solution if the
entries do not work anyway.

I honestly do not see a chance for a reasonable wrapper (except just
applications like kapitain which was mantioned by Tim). Could you
specify more precisely what you mean or provide some kind of prototype?

That's fair.

This is wrong. Please read again about severities. The severity is not
about asuming how stupid a potential user might be but about how bad a
problem technically is. For me these are minor bugs and I would not
rise my voice if somebody would tag it as normal.

As I said above: Removing *.desktop files fullfills 1. I do not see a
reasonable way for 2. More precise suggestions and patches are welcome.
